Last night wheni stopped at QuikTrip for some smokes, I chatted with the 40ish year old feller behind the counter, who related his life story to me. Lived all over the US, taking jobs that sounded fun, spending a few years as a beach bum, and now making, as he said, $50k working night shift at a gas station. IMHO, sounds like a perfect life.

I sucked it up and bought a mattress and desk and computer chair last night from IKEA. $650 including home delivery (since I bought off website). That seems alright, I guess....

But speaking of home furnishings, I need decorating advice. My apartment is pretty much a 2-story studio apt, with a large room downstairs (living room) and the kitchen, while upstairs is another large room (bedroom) and the bathroom and a closet. My problem is that I don't have anything to put in the living room -- desk and bed are going upstairs, which leaves downstairs woefully empty. If I had a TV, I'd put it and a couch down there, but I have neither (nor do I want a TV). Sooooo... what should I do with my downstairs space?

I vote for filling it with plastic balls. Or foam.

No Kale. What you need is something I covet (and WILL have dammit).

Behold, the coolest lamp you could ever own!

The only downer is the price (which is why I am sneakily squirreling the funds for it away)

This lamp would get you all kinds of hot girl ass.

Dude, that's one hell of a lamp. The only problem with it is that it *requires* a swinging 70's ranch-style house with a sunken living room. I only have a generic apartment built in the mid-80s :(

I've got to stand by the film thing. I've been so excited going through eBay, picking up 16mm safety and educational films up the wazoo, such as old Woody Woodpecker, Mighty Mouse, Little Black Sambo and Chilly Willy cartoons, EMT training films, a neat presentation on Poisonous Plants, a bunch of old home movies, some Batman episodes, an education filim about germs that looks like an episode of Power Rangers, and, while I can't play it as I don't have a 35mm projector, all 4 35mm reels of Flesh Gordon.

Oh, and I found a '70s porno called "Maharaja of Bangmor", which involves midget porn. Bidded!

squeeeee i cant wait
