Neeeeeat. I logged into my online banking with Bank of America to update my address and all that good stuff, and saw a little "NEW!" bubble on the page. As an average consumer, my eyes gravitated towards it and the link to which it referred: Keep the Change. Click click click oh hell yeah.
It's a new savings program where every purchase you make with your debit card on your checking account is rounded up to the next dollar -- a charge for $6.53 is rounded up to a flat $7.00 -- and the difference is automatically deposited into your savings account. BRILLIANT. Like the classic change jar... in a magical, modern, digital-kinda form. I've been meaning to set up ay savings account and start, y'know, saving, and this is the kind of savings program that fits my lifestyle and spending patterns. Check it out if you bank with BoA -- since it's a new program, they're offering to match every contribution you make to your savings via Keep the Change for the first 3 months, and match 5% per month thereafter, which makes it a win-win situation in my eyes.
Go! Save money! Then spend the money you saved on something cool, like a pet rhesus monkey!
